Although there is a chip fitted inside the cartridges - it is not a "Killer Chip" the cartridges can be refilled after the chip cuts off - but the toner level indication stays at empty and it means that you have to press a button to override the low/empty warning etc. to get the machine to print. The Epson C1100 is more or less the same as the Dell 3000 / Dell 3100.
